Kiki Gotaway was tasked with creating a visual identity for "sammen om ungelivet" that captured youth, community, and togetherness. The logo had to resonate with young people, parents, organized leisure activities, and the five pilot municipalities. It also had to depart from the usual Health Authority colors and sub-identity markers.
We embarked on the design process by exploring various symbols that represent youth communities within the framework of a guiding adult presence. The multitude of symbols we gathered provided the foundation for a workshop. The exercise sparked a conversation about what a healthy youth community entails / looks like - for instance is everyone always happy? And how can relevant and engaging adult involvement be visualized? Do adults interact with youth as peers, authorities, or supporters?
The workshop resulted in an identity featuring formable blobs arranged in a fluid mosaic, each shape seamlessly blending into one another. Circles, arcs, lines, and crosses formed faces that float around, appearing happy at times, curious at others, and occasionally, discontented.
The resulting identity comprised a logo symbol, logo type, a fifth element, and a pattern.
